Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 October 2026. This notice explains how Nu FOCUS Education CIC uses personal information through nu-focus.co.uk, Starz Academy and our online enquiries, shop and event services.

Who is responsible and how to contact us

Nu FOCUS Education CIC is responsible for the information described here. Contact info@nu-focus.co.uk, telephone +44 (0)300 111 0808, or write to Nu FOCUS Education CIC, 7 Church Arcade, Bedford, MK40 1LQ. Please mark privacy requests “Data protection”.

What we collect and why

  • Enquiries: contact details and the information you choose to send, so we can answer questions and arrange services.
  • Accounts and learning: account details, membership and group status, course enrolments, progress and completion information, to provide access and help learners continue their work.
  • Purchases and bookings: customer details, orders, billing information and payment references, to fulfil purchases, manage access and respond to refunds or booking questions.
  • Website security: technical information such as IP addresses, browser details and login/security logs, to operate the website and detect abuse.
  • Optional updates: the adult contact details and interests supplied when you request news or event updates.

Our reasons for using information

We use information needed to provide a requested purchase or service on the basis of contract, and keep records needed for tax and accounting on the basis of legal obligation. Responding to enquiries and maintaining a secure website support our legitimate interests in running our services. Optional marketing is based on your permission; you can withdraw it by using an unsubscribe link or contacting us. You can object to direct marketing at any time.

Children, families and educator groups

Our learning services support young people. Parents, carers and educators should help children understand what information they share and oversee adult purchases and bookings. Please use adult contact details in general enquiry forms and avoid including confidential health, safeguarding or referral information about a child. Contact the team to arrange an appropriate way to share such information. An educator managing a group can receive information needed to administer its learner places and learning progress. A school or referring organisation may also have its own privacy notice.

Service providers and payments

Authorised staff and delivery team members use information as needed for their work. Our website relies on hosting and technical service providers, including Hostinger, and services used to deliver forms, email and learning. Payment information is handled by the payment provider identified at checkout, such as PayPal or Stripe, under that provider’s privacy information. We receive payment and order references; we do not ask you to send full card details by email. Google reCAPTCHA is used to protect forms; see Google’s privacy policy and terms. Some providers operate internationally. Contact us for information about a particular provider, processing location or applicable transfer safeguards.

Free parent guide and optional book emails

We use HighLevel (LeadConnector) to process Parent Conversation Guide requests and manage related email delivery. The form asks for an adult email address and an optional first name. It also records the request, any marketing choice and relevant campaign-source information. The guide form uses Cloudflare human verification to help prevent automated submissions; see Cloudflare’s privacy information. You can request the guide without choosing book emails. If you opt in, we use these details to send Starz book tips, resources and offers. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails or contact us using the details above.

How long information is kept

We decide retention by the purpose of the record: whether an enquiry remains open, an account or group is in use, a service or purchase needs support, or an accounting, safeguarding or legal requirement applies. Backups and security logs may remain for their operational retention cycle. Closing an account does not always allow us to erase records that must be kept. Ask us about the retention criteria for a particular record.

Your choices and rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to see, correct, erase, restrict or transfer your personal information, or object to its use. Some rights have legal limits. Contact us using the details above; we may need to verify your identity. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Cookies and changes

See our cookie information for website cookies and third-party features. We will update this notice when our services or information practices change. This website notice is separate from the operational policy documents in our Policies and documents library.
